Ballet, Tap, Modern Dance, Barre

Danielle began her dance training at Metropolitan Fine Arts Center, now formally known as Metropolitan School of the Arts, in Alexandria, Virginia under the direction of Melissa Dobbs and Sara Hart studying Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, Tap and Hip Hop. During this time she completed the Royal Academy of Dance Certificate Program completing levels 2 through 8, receiving a 90 or above on all vocational exams under the direction of Leslie Sherrer. She also was a part of Metropolitan Youth Tap Ensemble and performed at the DC Tap Festival, the Kennedy Center and at the annual Cherry Blossom Festival in Washington DC. Danielle spent her summers studying at The Rock School of Ballet, the Kirov Ballet and The Ailey School in New York City. Danielle has traveled back to Alexandria multiple times to choreograph for MSA’s Nutcracker Ballet and assist in teaching RAD curriculum.

In the Fall of 2012, Miss Danielle committed to pursue a BFA in dance, choreography and anatomy at Virginia Commonwealth University, which she completed Magna Cum Laude in the Spring of 2016. While at VCU she had the pleasure of working with Christian von Howard, Autumn Waddell, Melanie Richards, Eric Rivera, Maria Bauman and Doug Varone. In the summer of 2015 she performed in the Footprints faculty concert under Anna Sperber at the American Dance Festival in Durham, North Carolina.

Danielle focused mainly on Ballet and Modern dance while performing in the Richmond, VA area at The Grace Street Theater, Dogtown Dance Festival and throughout the community. At VCU Miss Danielle was able to take many Pedagogy classes with the School of Education, in support of the Dance and Choreography Department curriculum.

With such an influential time at her studio in Alexandria, VA, she was able to confirm her next step in the dance world and pursue her love of teaching at the studio level and in the private school system at The Collegiate School and at West End Academy of Dance. She taught Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary at The Collegiate School on faculty with the upper-school dance program for 2 years and taught Pre-Ballet, Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary and Modern at WEAD. Danielle was at WEAD for 5 and a half years and is still inspired daily by the dedicated students at West End Academy of Dance back in Richmond, VA.

« As a teacher, I always prompt myself to continue to learn and grow. I love to create positive spaces for students to feel like they hold value in their dancing. There is something so special about being able to put joy in students’ hearts through dancing. »
