What do we learn in Preparatory level at Dancenter?

 In Blog, News

From the age of 6, we GENTLY introduce our students to the TECHNIQUE of Ballet, Acro and/or Jazz Hop.

Dancenter Preparatory level is a transition from our playful classes (Dance Play/Dance Intro) to Dancenter’s formal classes program (Level 1-6).

Our goal is to nurture your child’s interest in dance, while increasing coordination, concentration levels, cooperation, and ability to follow instructions.

Discipline vs self-discipline

For many, dance and especially Ballet has a reputation for being taught with strict discipline.

At Dancenter, we accompany your children in finding their passion for dancing first.

From our experience, we witness that our students who fall in love with dancing, are the ones who naturally develop stronger self discipline.

Once their passion has been found, the young dancer makes all the effort themselves, because they want to and not because they are forced to.

With high motivation and great effort, their progression is their reward and in turn, self-confidence is increased.

TECHNIQUE is only a tool for FREEDOM. Artistry is the HEART.

In Preparatory class, attention span increases along with spatial awareness and cooperation with others.

Emphasis is on balance, posture, flexibility, strength, musicality.

The opportunity for self expression is given through free dance time. We understand that for parents, seeing your children running/ jumping, turning around in all directions seems like a loss of time, but for us it is so important that our children do not “lose” their inner dance.

We want our students to keep dancing with their heart while becoming greater athletes.

It’s unfortunate that too frequently, we see incredibly technical dancers move without soul…. only because they lost it while focusing only on building their technique.

Month after month, we are nurturing our Preparatory students for a highly structured and more demanding class form, yet Dancenter teachers will always keep a space for your children to emphasize their creativity and imagination.
